Why Most Video Marketing Agencies Get Worse After Month 3 (And How We're Built Differently)
July 29, 2026
The typical agency model has a predictable lifecycle. Months 1 through 3 go great — you’re a new client, you’re getting real attention, results start showing up. Then the agency signs three more new clients, and 90% of the team’s effort shifts to chasing results for them. By month 6, you’re not really a client anymore. You’re a line item. You stay because switching feels like starting over, until eventually you wise up and leave — and now you’re back to square one, except this time you know exactly what you’re missing and have no way to actually get it done yourself.
That’s not a knock on any one agency. It’s how the incentive structure works almost everywhere in this industry. New clients get the attention because new clients are how agencies grow. Existing clients get whatever’s left over.
Where we step in differently
We built Arkon around a different assumption: the goal isn’t to keep you as a client forever. The goal is to get your business to a point where you don’t need us anymore — and to make money doing it honestly along the way, not by dragging out a relationship that’s stopped producing.
Here’s what that actually looks like, month by month:
First, we fix the foundation. Before a single video goes out, we help organize your CRM and lead flow, and tighten up whatever’s leaking in your lead process right now — the gaps between “someone’s interested” and “someone actually booked.” Content doesn’t matter if the funnel behind it is broken.
Then we build the content plan and start production. Once the foundation’s in place, we build your content strategy and shoot your first batch — 30 videos posted in your second month on the engagement, then 30 more every month after that. This is where the ball actually starts rolling: consistent volume, posted on a schedule, tailored to what’s actually working for your specific business.
Then, if you want it, we hand it off — for real. If you continue onto our recommended transition plan, we help you hire and train a videographer and editor to replace our role. Yes, replace. Not “supplement.” The problem most business owners run into if they try to do this on their own from day one is that a new hire doesn’t know what to do — they don’t have six months of tailored ideation, planning, shooting, editing, and scheduling workflows built specifically around your business. That’s what we hand off: not just a person with a camera, but the actual playbook that makes them effective fast.
The transition plan
This is a 6-month add-on at $997/month, separate from the core production retainer. It includes:
- Support finding and hiring the right person for the role
- The frameworks, workflows, and content strategy we built specifically for your business
- A weekly 1-on-1 call to keep the new hire on track while they ramp up
- Continued access to your CRM and funnel system
Some of the tools your new hire will need are a separate cost on your end (we cover what those are in our equipment breakdown post) — but the long-term benefit is real: once your team owns the frameworks, any future hire can use them too. You’re not rebuilding from scratch if that person eventually moves on.
This path isn’t the right move for every business right away — it’s really a decision about when you’re ready to build a solid in-house team and brand. You can also just stay on the standard retainer for as long as it’s working, and make that call later.
What happens after the transition
Once your in-house hire is running production using our systems, you decide whether you still want to keep the CRM and lead-flow integrations running — that’s available on its own for $97/month, any time.
The bigger benefit isn’t just cost. It’s that your employee gets to specialize in your niche. They’re in the building. They know what’s happening day to day, what you’re working on as the owner, what’s changing in the business — the kind of insider content ideas an outside agency, including us, would never have access to. They grow with your brand in a way we never fully could from the outside. And depending on how many hours you give them, you may even be able to scale video output beyond what we were producing.
You stop relying on us for your entire business life. That’s the point.
